Pinches for Pinched Nerve PainWhat causes a Pinched Nerve? Nervous signals in the body have been aggravated, amplified or disrupted in some way. Repetitive stress on the hips, backs or walking joints, standing or sitting for long periods is a common cause. Although older adults are more likely to experience a pinched nerve, several other factors may lead to this condition: You may feel a feeling of pins and needles, weakness or pain in the affected area. The pain gets worse when you are moving the joint and the range of movement is often reduced. Serious cases may require medical care but for many patients, mild exercises that point to the affected area can help relieve minor nervous pain. These stretches reduce the pressure placed on the nerve and loosen the surrounding muscles. Plan to do these exercises part of your daily routine, two or three times a day. Physical therapy for pain relief Physical therapists help relieve pain, either by a sports injury or surgical procedure. A pinched nerve can keep you away from the activities you enjoy; working with one of our PTs can take you back to your life. We will determine the root of your pain and relieve pressure on nerves with specialized techniques.
