Hair Growth Stages | How You Can Increase Anagen Phase of your HairHow to Increase My Hair Growth Rate ¦ Hair Growth StagesWhat is the average growth rate of hair? Before immersed in the stages of hair growth, it is useful to understand how fast hair naturally grows to get a good understanding of what to expect. According to the United States Center for Disease Control, hair grows an average of 0.55 inches per month. If we knock it down, that's equivalent to 0.17 inches a day or about 6 inches a year. That sounds a lot, but why doesn't it feel like it's growing so much? Let's go into it... Hair growth scenes 1) Anagena Phase "Active Growth Phase"During the Anagen phase, your scalp will produce 90-95% of all your capillary follicles. This is due to your cells in the root of your hair that is divided every 24 hours to produce new growth. The amount of time your capillary follicles are in this phase of active growth will vary depending on many predetermined factors, but an average phase of Anageno lasts between 2-8 years before an unknown signal activates the body to enter the Catagen phase.2) Catagen Phase "Translation phase"During the Catagen phase, your capillary cells will stop dividing what it means will not produce new growth. Only less than 1% of the hair on the head are at this stage at any time. An average catagenous phase will last 4-6 weeks.3) Phase Telogen "Fase Hair Loss"The Telogen phase is where capillary follicles begin to change shape to begin the process of falling naturally. This is what you see when you brush your hair and see the strands of hair on the brush or on the bathroom counter. This phase is necessary to keep hair and scalp healthy. You will typically lose an average of 50-100 hairs per day. About 10-15% of the hair is in the stage at any given time. This stage takes about 3-4 months on average.* Important note It is important to note that all hairs in your hair do not go through these stages at the same time. At any given time, each hair follicle could be at a different stage. This is why it is not boiled followed by extreme hair growth. How can I increase my hair growth rate during The Anagena Phase? The actual growth rate of your hair during the Anagen phase can fluctuate greatly depending on genetics, age, ethnicity, health factors, time of year and diet. In a 2005 study by the International Journal of Dermatology, they found that female descending hair grows at the fastest speed, while African descending hair tends to grow slower. In men, the growth rate of the hair does not differ depending on the ethnicity. Researchers of this study also believe that hair tends to grow at a faster rate during the summer than winter due to increased exposure to sun UV rays and dietary changes (eating more fruits and vegetables). Researchers are not 100% sure what factors trigger the body to enter the Anagen phase, but do recommend some tips to promote healthy hair. What can reduce your hair growth rate during The Anagena Phase? It is difficult to point out the exact reason why your hair growth rate may not be the same as others during the Anagen phase. In addition to the predetermined set of genetic factors and stages of life, some potential reasons why your hair might stop growing might include: What can I do to naturally increase my hair growth rate? 1) Increase your vitamin consumption According to The Vitamins and Nutrition Center, any nutritional deficiency can contribute to thinning and hair loss. With age, blood circulation will begin to decrease. To combat the effects of this slowing on hair growth, it is recommended to increase the number of vitamins in the bloodstream. As an antioxidant, vitamin E is recommended to promote healthy growth of nails and hair. Always talk to your healthcare provider before taking vitamins. (2) Eating proteins and foods rich in vitamin biotin H, or more commonly known as Biotin, is known to help convert food into fuel for your body. Biotin can also help increase metabolism and help build amino acid and carbohydrate blocks that become proteins. The growth of the hair begins in the follicle that is made of protein cells. For faster and stronger hair, it is recommended to eat a diet rich in biotin and protein. This may include foods like: 3) Balanced dietIn addition to eating a healthy amount of protein and biotin-rich foods, having a balanced diet is key to maintaining healthy hair. Foods rich in vitamins A and C, such as spinach and broccoli, are a great addition to a well-balanced diet. Vitamins found in both spinach and broccoli produce sebum that is necessary to add moisture to your scalp. Not to mention the antioxidants found in many green vegetables can help eliminate free radicals, making your hair grow faster and stronger. It is important to keep your diet as balanced as possible so that your body does not lack nutritional deficiencies. (4) Using Coconut Oil As Hair Treatment Coconut oil is one of the hottest ingredients in the hair industry and for good reason. Composed mainly of smaller medium-chain fatty acids, coconut oil has a high affinity to stimulate hair growth. Due to the weight and molecular structure of the coconut oil, it sinks directly into the hair follicles instead of sitting on top of the hair. This means that the effects are not only the surface level, but also helps to repair and stimulate the hair instead of being discarded after a wash. Other advantages of coconut oil are: Take a look at our article to learn more about why you should be using coconut oil in your hair 5) Replace your cotton case with a OneEver silk asks why you wake up in the morning and your hair is in a million different directions? This is caused by one thing, friction. By replacing your old cotton case with a silk, you create less friction in your hair during the night. Friction interrupts the hair cuticle layer that has been shown to cause hair loss. Silk fibers help absorb some of that friction at night that makes the moisture level of the skin and hair remain intact. Not to mention silk is naturally non-absorbent and antibacterial, while regular cotton absorbs moisture and bacteria. Look at these silk pillow covers on Amazon: Final Thoughts At the end of the day, which triggers an individual hair growth rate to be superior to another is still a mystery to scientists. No solution will work for everyone so it can be a lot of test and error before learning what best works for you. Do not underestimate the power of what a regular edge can do for your hair. Frequent travel can encourage hair growth, even if your growth rate has stagnated. Always remember to consult with your doctor if you are experiencing extreme hair loss. Pinches for Pinched Nerve PainWhat causes a Pinched Nerve? Nervous signals in the body have been aggravated, amplified or disrupted in some way. Repetitive stress on the hips, backs or walking joints, standing or sitting for long periods is a common cause. Although older adults are more likely to experience a pinched nerve, several other factors may lead to this condition: You may feel a feeling of pins and needles, weakness or pain in the affected area. The pain gets worse when you are moving the joint and the range of movement is often reduced. Serious cases may require medical care but for many patients, mild exercises that point to the affected area can help relieve minor nervous pain. These stretches reduce the pressure placed on the nerve and loosen the surrounding muscles. Plan to do these exercises part of your daily routine, two or three times a day.
